Jebel Ali, UAE, May 11: The Jebel Ali Konkani Community (JAKC), in aid of the Konkani activities in the church and to help the needy, organized a variety entertainment programme "Konkan Dabazo" on Thursday May 10 in St Francis Assisi Church hall in Jebel Ali.

If 'dabazo' means pomp and solemnity, the programme labelled 'dabazo' had all ingredients representing the pomp and solemnity of Konkani in it and thus justified the title.

The event was filled with quality entertainment. It was a maiden attempt by the organization, headed by John Monteiro, a leader of dynamic nature.

The programme started with a prayer by Fr Frederick D`Souza of St Mary's Catholic Church, Dubai. Jebel Ali parish priest Fr Eugene was the guest of honor. He praised the initiative taken by JAKC and offered his support to the Konkani community in the parish.

The enetertainment was divided into two segments - Vincent Fernandes Cascia Musical Nite and Francis Fernandes Cascia Comedy.

"Pidestancho Bongostoll", written by Francis Fernades Cascia, was staged by JAKC memebers and it brought out the talents of the members. Though they presented the show for the first time, they showed great professiobnal skill and potential. All actors did a commendable job.

Vincent Fernandes, along with Dony-Asha, Ratan Castelino, Mario, Veena and others, rendered some sentimental as well as fast numbers, to keep the crowd engaged.

In spite of this weekend being one of the most hectic ones in recent times - packed with many private and social engaements in Dubai - a sizeable crowd was present to witness the maiden event of JAKC.

Arun Carlo led the music and it was a superb display of professional talent.

Dafnia Group of Companies was the main sponsor of the event. All the sponsors and media partner daijiworld were feliciated by the JAKC during the interval. Fr Eugene and John Montiero presented mementos to the sponsors as they were called upon to the dais.

Comedy King Francis Fernandes Cascia presented humorous skits along with his co-artistes Alwyn Pinto, Stany D'Cunha, Vincy Lobo, Janet and others.

At the end, non-stop Baila was presented by Vincent Fernandes and group.
