Mumbai, May 9: A three-day-old baby boy was allegedly taken away from a suburban hospital by a woman impersonating as a nurse, police said on Tuesday.

"A woman aged around 28 years dressed as a nurse entered the children's ward of the Sanjay Gandhi Municipal Hospital in Jogeshwari on Monday evening and took away the newborn boy," they said.

Rita Jadhav had delivered the boy at the hospital on May four. "Seeing the fake nurse in the ward, Jadhav informed her that the boy was suffering from some ailment.

On hearing this, the woman took away the baby on the pretext of administering treatment in some other ward but never returned," police said.

The unidentified woman has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
