Mizoram seeks BCCI affiliation


Kolkata, June 27 (IANS): The Cricket Association of Mizoram (CAM) on Saturday sent a formal request to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking affiliation.

"Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawala, who is also the CAM president, thanked BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya for having fruitful discussions with Biswajit Deb, the advocate general of Mizoram, with regard to seeking affiliation to BCCI," said a BCCI release.

"Dalmiya has forwarded the matter to the affiliation committee members with a request to take up the matter for consideration so that a decision is taken at the earliest in the interest of cricket."

The president has sent his recommendation to the New Area Development Committee which included preparation of more turf wickets, conducting coaching programmes, appointment of coaches and support staff, supply of ground equipment and cricket gears, preparation of budgets for development programmes and its continuous monitoring.

The recommendations also include development of a full size cricket ground.
