Mumbai, May 4: The 12th anniversary celebration of Maharashtra Konkan Association was held at Hotel Natural, Sakinaka, Andheri (east) here on Tuesday May 1.

Fr Hubert Goveas of St Judes Church was present as the chief guest and blessed the occasion.

The programme was presided over by Association president Benedicta B Rebello. Speaking on the occasion, she thanked the Association members for their support and stressed on the need to preserve one’s mother tongue.

Dirvem Konkani weekly editor and publisher John Monis, Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra honorary chief secretary Joyce Palladka, Sujanha L Coelho of Divo and Secural Citizen periodicals were the guests of honour.

Maharashtra Konkan Association founder president Leo Fernandes welcomed the gathering. Past members of the Association were paid tributes on the occasion.

Writer Oliver D’Souza Angelore compered while Association immediate past president Walter D Souza and Jerimeri proposed the vote of thanks.

There was also a musical programme by the Association members.
