Hockey umpire Raghuprasad completes 100 matches


Antwerp, June 25 (IANS): Indian hockey umpire Raghuprasad R.V. achieved a personal milestone in his career when he officiated his 100th international match here.

Raghuprasad was one of the umpires during the Australia vs Pakistan match at the ongoing Hockey World League Semi-Finals on Wednesday.

Born in Bengaluru, Raghuprasad started officiating international matches in 2003 where he was the umpire during a match, again played between Australia and Pakistan at Perth in 2003. Since then there has no looking back. He even has to his credit of umpiring in the 2014 World Cup and the 2012 Olympics.

Congratulating Raghuprasad, Hockey India (HI) secretary general Mohd. Mushtaque Ahmad said: "We are very pleased and proud of him. We would like to congratulate Raghuprasad on this huge milestone for officiating in 100 international matches. We wish him all the best and hope to see him continue in this manner for years to come."
