Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship medallists to be rewarded


New Delhi, Jun 19 (IANS): The Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry on Thursday decided to give Indian athletes who had triumphed at the Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship with cash award for their excellent performance.

Both the boys and girls finished second in the freestyle category in the overall medal tally.

The gold medalists will receive cash award of Rs.60,000 while the silver and bronze medalist will receive Rs.40,000 and Rs.20,000 respectively.

Gold medallists were Arun Kumar (85 kg, Freestyle), Pradeep (50 kg, Greeco Roman), Sanjeet (76 kg, Freestyle), Naveen (54 kg, Freestyle), Suraj Rajkumar (63 kg, Freestyle) and Divya Kakran (70 kg, Freestyle).

Silver medallists were Nasir Hussain (100 kg, Freestyle), Annu Devi (40 kg, Freestyle), Kiran (49 kg, Freestyle), Reena (52 kg, Freestyle) and Nisha (60 kg, Freestyle).

Bronze medallists were Sachin Rathi (69 kg, Freestyle), Sajan (76 kg, Greeco Roman), Deepak (85 kg, Greeco Roman), Sumit (100 kg, Greeco Roman), Monu (46 kg, Freestyle), Ankush (38 kg, Freestyle) and Anju (43 kg, Freestyle).
