Formed government in Kashmir to win over youth: BJP

Srinagar, June 11 (IANS): The BJP on Thursday said it formed a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir to win the hearts and minds of the youth and to bridge the gap between the Jammu region and the Valley.

At a workshop of Bharatiya Janata Party's state functionaries here, he inaugurated the party's 'Maha Sampark Abiayan' mass contact programme.

"This is the first time our party is in power here. It is the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create an atmosphere for communion of hearts by development of all," Chander Prakash Ganga, BJP leader and industries ministers, said.

"Our efforts to build a rapport with the people particularly youth has borne fruits as the BJP has registered 333,000 members in Kashmir," he said.

He credited the workers for the party's maiden government in the Muslim-majority state.

"The BJP wants to build relations between the Jammu and Kashmir provinces to grow stronger at an emotional level too," he said.

The party has 26 seats but all in the Jammu province as it failed to open its account in the valley in last year's assembly election.

"Workers from Kashmir region don't need to lose heart, their concerns will be addressed", he said.

He said the Modi-led BJP government is taking a keen interest in the state.

"Modiji has a vision to make Jammu and KAshmir a peaceful and prosperous state."
