Man held for kidnapping stepson


New Delhi, May 29 (IANS): A 25-year-old man was arrested here in connection with the kidnapping of his five-year-old stepson in Meghalaya, police said here on Friday.

The arrested person was identified as Ajay Kumar Roy, a resident of Ijrapanapur village in Bihar's Vaishali district who kidnapped the little boy from in in-laws' place in Shillong, Meghalaya.

Delhi Police said a message was received on Friday from Superintendent of Police, Shillong, stating that the man accused of kidnapping a five-year-old child from Shillong on April 19, was using some mobile numbers of Delhi/NCR could be hiding in south Delhi.

A team of Delhi Police raided the place where he was hiding. He was arrested from a construction site of Bamnoli village in Dwarka on Thursday. A team of Shillong police was also with the raiding party, police said.

During interrogation, Roy confessed to his crime, saying he kidnapped his stepson on the night of April 19. He dropped the child at his native place in Bihar and came to Delhi. He started working as a labour at a construction site here.

A case was registered against him at Shillong Sadar police station, police said.
