Union ministers to interact with netizens


New Delhi, May 29 (IANS): Under its initiative to highlight achievement of the NDA government in the past one year, union ministers Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman will interact with netizens on Saturday, it was announced here.

The information and broadcasting ministry said on Friday that the ministers will interact directly with netizens through Twitter using "#AskYourGovt @MIB_India" and the live answers on I&B YouTube Channel.

The programme named 'Talkathon', which is being organised by the ministry, is scheduled to be held for a duration of 90-minute from 6 p.m. on wards. The programme would be live from National Media Centre in the national capital.

'Talkathon' is an initiative by the new media wing of the ministry, which connects the virtual space with physical world. Under the platform, participants in social media space can post questions on Twitter which would be answered by the guests in real-time.

It is the first time that three ministers - Human Resource Development Minister Irani, Minister of State for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Sitharaman - are participating on such a platform together.

Among other ministers who had participated on 'Talkathon' were Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
