Two bus passengers die of heat in Chhattisgarh


Kanker (Chhattisgarh), May 29 (IANS): The scorching heat turned deadly in Chhattisgarh with two people reportedly dying of intense heat while travelling by bus, police said on Friday.

In one of the incidents, 50-year-old Satyawan Mandal fell unconscious around 9.00 a.m. on Friday while travelling by bus. Witnesses said he fell unconscious due to the heat while the bus was heading to Bhanupratapur from Pankhanjur.

Police official Sukhram Pant said Mandal succumbed while being taken to hospital.

In another incident on Thursday evening, a person died while travelling by bus, headed towards Kankel from Keshkal.

The victim was identified as 46-year-old Kashiram Markam of Puswara area. When his son tried to wake him up on reaching their destination, he found that Markam had already passed away.
