Why Actress Madhuri Dixit is Now Caught in Maggi Noodle Controversy


Dehradun, May 29 (NDTV): Actor Madhuri Dixit has been sent notice for endorsing Maggi noodles, which is under scrutiny for high content of lead and monosodium glutamate.

The notice from the Food and Drug Administration in Uttarakhand, asks Ms Dixit to respond within 15 days on an ad that talked about the nutrition value of Maggi noodles.

he 48-year-old actor has been asked to explain the basis of her claims in the ad. "If she fails to respond to the notice within the stipulated time frame, a case could be registered against her," said Food Secrutiy officer, Mahimanand Joshi.

Earlier this month, the Food Safety and Drug Administration in Uttar Pradesh claimed that Maggi noodles' samples contained Mono Sodium Glutamate (MSG) and high amounts of lead, more than the permissible limits that could cause harm to organs in our body.

Nestle India, which was forced to withdraw the popular snack from markets in Uttar Pradesh, has denied the claims.
