Cannes, May 20: Having witnessed the appreciation that her performance received, when screened at the film festival here, actress Richa Chadda tweeted about how it left her teary eyed. The movie got a five minute long standing ovation from the audiences present. Director Neeraj Ghaywan too confessed to having cried at witnessing such overwhelming appreciation for his work by his contemporaries and peers.

Richa posted a picture of the people standing and applauding the film and followed it with the tweet, "Got teary at the 5 minute long standing ovation. Thank you everyone. @ghaywan, first thanks to you." Neeraj too expressed his happiness on the micro-blogging site, by saying, "Broke down at the unstoppable applause. Thanks everyone! Missed you so much @anuragkashyap72, editor @nitin_baid, DP @avinasharun20! #Masaan."

'Masaan' which means 'Fly Away Solo' is the story of the lives of a young orphan and a teenage boy. The teenage boy falls in love with an upper caste girl (played by Shweta Tripathi). The father of the upper caste girl is caught in a sex scandal with a woman (played by Richa Chadda). The two boys meet each other and the orphan finds an unlikely father figure in the father of the upper caste girl.

Neeraj, who spoke of his film before leaving for the film festival, reportedly said, "I was always curious about what a man, who encounters death in his day-to-day life, thinks about mortality. That's where the idea for 'Masaan' came." His comment stems from the fact that the teenage boy in the movie, works at a crematorium.
