Bangkok, May 13 (IANS): Putting up an impressive performance, the Indian cadet girls team registered two wins on the opening day of the SET Thailand Open junior and cadet table tennis tournament here on Wednesday.
The team comprising of Archana Kamat, Varuni Jaiswal and Srushti Haleangadi scored a hard-fought 3-2 win over Singapore and later blanked host Thailand 3-0, according to a release.
However, it was mixed luck for India in the junior section. The Indian junior boys team went down to Japan 1-3, while the junior girls team whipped Malaysia 3-0 to begin the campaign on a positive note.

Junior boys: India lost to Japan 3-1 (Lalrin Puia bt Yuhi Itami 11-5, 10-12, 11-9, 11-5;
