US chopper goes missing in quake-hit Nepal


Kathmandu, May 13 (IANS): A US Vector chopper went missing in Nepal's Dolakha district that was hit by an earthquake on Tuesday, an official said.

The helicopter went missing at 3.25 p.m., home ministry spokesperson Laxmi Prasad Dhakal told IANS.

It was not immediately known how many people were in the chopper that was sent for a search and rescue bid.

The helicopter was last seen in Sunkhani area. It was also not known whether it crashed or landed safely somewhere after running out of fuel.

At least 57 people were killed and over 1,000 others injured when a massive earthquake and 14 aftershocks shook Nepal on Tuesday causing panic in the Himalayan nation which was still recovering from the devastating April 25 temblor.
