Olympic champion Vonn named PyeongChang Winter Games ambassador

Seoul, May 6 (IANS): Olympic skiing champion Lindsey Vonn has become an honorary ambassador for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old, who just broke up with golfer Tiger Woods after a nearly three-year relationship, is the first international athlete to be named an honorary spokesperson for the first Winter Games to be held in South Korea, reports Xinhua.

Vonn was the first American woman to win the Olympic downhill when she took the gold medal in 2010 in Vancouver. She also has two world titles, four overall World Cup titles and 67 individual World Cup victories.

Vonn missed the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, due to a right knee injury, after competing in the three previous Winter Games. She returned to action last December.
