French midfielder Cabaye concerned about his international future

Paris, May 5 (IANS): Midfielder Yohan Cabaye has expressed concern about his place in France's Euro 2016 football squad after struggling to play regularly for French club Paris Saint-Germain this season.

"It is a distinct moment in my career," Cabaye said on Monday, reports Xinhua.

"I need to speak to the national team coach and my representatives to see what is best for me," he said.

The 29-year-old former Newcastle player, who signed for the Ligue 1 defending champions in 2014, has started just 11 matches in his 21 appearances for Laurent Blanc's side so far this season.

PSG are now leading Ligue 1 football tournament by three points over seven-time title holders Lyon, with just three rounds left in the current season.

And with Euro 2016 taking place on France's soil next year, Cabaye felt it necessary to seek advice from France coach Didier Deschamps amid concerns over his position in the national team.

"I have never been through this before," he added.

"You have to accept it but also try to change it. It is very important for me as I want to play at Euro 2016."
