Lewandowski returns to training wearing protective mask

Barcelona, May 5 (IANS): Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski returned to training with his team, showing up wearing a protective face mask after fracturing his nose and jaw last week in the German Cup semifinals against Borussia Dortmund.

Lewandowski hopes to play, with the mask, on Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals against Barcelona here, reports Efe.

On Sunday, Lewandowski shared on Twitter a picture of his wearing the mask and declared that he was "ready for the next challenge". However, Lewandowski's participation in Wednesday's game is uncertain, according to Bayern's sporting director Mathias Sammer.

The doctor must first give the green light and then Lewandowski must decide whether or not to play depending on how he feels with the mask.
