Off the field, Dwayne Bravo enjoys doing music

Chennai, May 4 (IANS): Chennai Super Kings cricketer Dwayne Bravo says he likes to unwind by composing music when he's not on the field. The West Indian cricketer is also in awe with Indian music and has launched his latest single "Chalo Chalo", which he terms an "achievement in that (sphere)".

"When i'm not playing cricket, I'm known as DJ Bravo. I enjoy doing music. I've always been interested to do something in Indian music. 'Chalo Chalo' is an achievement in that (sphere)," Bravo told IANS.

On Sunday, Bravo sang and danced to the single, which also features Indian origin Trinidad singer Nisha B.

Dressed in a golden sherwani, Bravo launched the single in the presence of Chennai Super Kings teammates and some friends from Royal Challengers Bangalore.

"‘Chalo Chalo’ is a mixed genre song featuring Caribbean music with western and Indian influences," Bravo said.

The song, he said, was conceived when he was made to sit out of the West Indian World Cup team.

“I was disappointed and bored for about two months. I wanted to divert my concentration on something else and that’s when I decided to work on this track,” he added.

“Chalo Chalo” is Bravo’s seventh single.

Divo, a Chennai-based digital entertainment company, has released the song. The official music video will be released shortly.

One of the star players of Chennai Super Kings team, Bravo has been part of the side for the last few seasons.

He considers Chennai “home away from home”.

“I can take a walk whenever I feel like in Chennai. The people here are so nice. It feels like another home. I enjoy eating mangoes,” he added.

In the past, he has grooved to a Tamil folk song from the film "Ula". He also played a cameo in it.

"I'd love to do more films. I think love for music is common in India and my hometown Trinidad and Tobago," said Bravo, and added he plans to set up DJ Bravo dance School here.

A hardcore Indian music lover, Bravo said he loves Telugu song “Ringa Ringa” and “Lungi Dance” from “Chennai Express”.
