Dubai: Girish Karnad's ‘Naga Mandala’ Set to Roll – Entry Free

Dubai, March 19: Theatre lovers in Dubai be it Kannada, Konkani, Tulu or other language have an unique opportunity to witness, Kannada's one of the renowned artiste, director Girish Karnad's much popular 'Naga Mandala' play on March 23, 2007 at Indian Consulate Auditorium.

Prakash Payyar, a Kannada poet, actor, director who is residing in Dubai has been endeavouring in the field of Kannada literature through his 'Dhwani Pratistana'. The play will be directed by Payyar.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Payyar that the play has been organized so that theatre lovers around UAE get to taste the quality plays. “The entry is free and well known stage artistes from Dubai will participate in this play. We want to make this event a unique one."

He further added that seats will be available on ‘first come: first serve basis.’

The play will begin at 5.30 pm.

On the same occasion renowned Kannada stage and film actress B Jayashree will be honoured with ‘Sriranga Ranga Prashasti’. This award will be given in the name of the late Dr Adya Rangacharya, founder of modern Kannada theatre who has directed more than 85 dramas and has contributed greatly to the field of literature including his books ‘Indian Theatre’ (contains history of India theatre) and ‘Natya Shastra.’ The books have been translated to several Indian languages.
