Steve Aoki to judge 'Ultimate DJ'

Los Angeles, April 30 (IANS): Electro-house musician Steve Aoki has been confirmed as the first judge on Simon Cowell's new talent show for electronic music stars, “Ultimate DJ” which is described as "The X Factor" of electronic dance music.

The show is set to launch on Yahoo! Live later this year with up and coming DJs competing against one another in a bid to win a recording contract with Sony Music and a headline spot at a major music festival.

However, a number of other DJs have already spoken out against the show, with DJ Fatboy Slim claiming he turned down the chance to be a judge before the show was even confirmed because he thought it was a "terrible idea", reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"Simon Cowell was talking about doing a show and everyone in the business, he kind of started approaching us, and we were like, 'F**k off, no - that's a terrible idea!'

"That's the good thing about dance music; it grows organically through drunk people late at night coming up with stupid ideas. It's not something that can be scripted or transported into a TV studio," Slim said.
