Mangalore, Mar 15: In a ghastly accident two persons were killed on the spot after the car they were travelling was hit by a lorry at Kolya near Thokkottu here on Thursday March 15 afternoon.

Two more persons who were travelling in the same car too have sustained serious injuries.

The deceased have been identified Nanjappa Rai (45) and Rathi Adappa, resident of Bastipadpu near B C Road in Bantwal.  Nanjappa Rai owns Ganesh Medicals at B C Road.  The injured have been identified as Jayalakshmi and Bharati.

All the four were travelling on a Maruti Omni car driven by Nanjappa.  They were on their way back home after attending a function at Thalapady.    The eye-witnesses said that the car went and rammed into stationary lorry at Kolya.

The accident was such ghastly that both the deceased were stuck in the car which was damaged completely.  The locals and the police had to put in extra efforts to remove the bodies from the car.

More details are yet awaited.  The Ullal police have registered a case in this regard.
