Key Taliban commander killed in Afghanistan


Kabul, April 25 (IANS): A key Taliban commander and three other militants were killed on Saturday in Afghanistan's Herat province.

"Acting upon an intelligence report, security forces laid an ambush on a way used by key Taliban commander Mullah Mir Ahmad in Ghorian district," a police officer told Xinhua news agency.

Mullah Mir Ahmad, who was often accompanied by 150 armed militants, was commander of 400 militants in west Afghanistan, the officer added.
