Jaipur, April 24 (IANS): The family of farmer Gajendra Singh, who committed suicide at an AAP rally in Delhi, on Friday demanded an CBI probe into the circumstances leading to his death.

"We want a CBI probe... a fair probe. We have conveyed it to Rajasthan Health Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore, who came here today (Friday) to meet us," Gopal Singh, Gajendra Singh's uncle, told IANS over phone from the family's village in Dausa district.

Rathore visited Nangal Jhamarwara in Dausa district to meet Gajendra Singh's family and handed them over a cheque of Rs.4 lakh on behalf of the BJP.

"The family asked Rathore to provide a government job to Gajendra's eldest son, who is studying in Class 6, after he finishes his education," Gopal Singh said.

The family also demanded that Gajendra Singh's daughter Megha, who is a Class 12 student, be given admission to the Maharani College of the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur after she clears her board exam.

Gopal Singh said: "Rathore assured us that he will convey our demands to the chief minister... he will also convey the family's request of a fair probe to the central government."

Earlier in the day, Rajput Karni Sena, an activist wing of the Rajput community, burnt effigy of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and demanded martyr's status for Gajendra Singh. Gajendra Singh was a Rajput by caste.

The Sena is also considering to file a case against Aam Aadmi Party leaders who convened the rally against the land ordinance in Delhi on Wednesday, where Gajendra Singh committed suicide.
