'Batman v Superman' trailer to premiere in Imax theatres

Los Angeles, April 16 (IANS): The first full-length trailer of the much awaited superhero film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will release in some Imax theatres on Monday.

Director Zack Snyder confirmed Monday’s Imax trailer event for the film by teasing a footage on Twitter late Wednesday, reports variety.com.

"Confirmed 4.20.15 #BatmanvSuperman @IMAX special teaser screening events. Limited space. RSVP http://www.batmanvsupermandawnofjustice.com/imax/" Snyder wrote.

The 'Batman v Superman Imax Trailer Event' is billed as being 15 minutes long, prompting speculation that the presentation will include extra footage from the “Man of Steel” sequel, which stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. It will also feature an intro from Snyder.

Warner Bros and Imax had no comment on the news. The studio had been planning on a wide release of the trailer for “Batman v Superman” attached to the “Mad Max: Fury Road,” which opens on May 15.

An earlier release would not only allow the studio to attach it to “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1 in the US, but also give the studio a chance to show off footage to exhibitors at the CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

The first footage for “Batman v Superman” was unveiled last year at Comic-Con, a year after the project was announced as a sequel to 2013’s “Man of Steel.”

The film is scheduled to release on March 25, 2016.
