Mumbai, Mar 1: The Jayashreekrishna Parisara Samithi has welcomed the announcement of Kurla – Thiruvananthapuram train service ‘Garib Rath’, by railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav made during the Railway Budget – 2007.

Samithi founder Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty expressed his happiness over former defence minister and NDA convenor George Fernandes’s initiative in forwarding requests to the railway ministry in this regard.

This train service will benefit thousands of people of undivided district of Dakshina Kannada, as the train will chug – off via Mangalore on its way from Kurla to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, stated a press release from Samiti president Vishwanath U Mada.

Honorary secretary G T Acharya, honorary joint treasurer Harish Kumar Shetty, Tonse Sanjeeva Poojary and honorary joint treasurer Harry S Ferrar expressed that the Garib Rath train service will further improve ties between the metro city and Mangalore.
