Curfew continues for third day in MP town

Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh), April 5 (IANS): A curfew imposed in a town in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district, following communal violence, continued for the third day on Sunday.

Some miscreants on Friday stoned a procession taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Jawad town.

Violence then flared, with a mob setting fire to residential buildings, vehicles and the shops which left many people, including police personnel, injured.

"Women and children were exempted from the curfew between 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sunday to let them buy things for their basic needs," Indrajit Singh, a sub divisional officer of police, Jawad town, told IANS.

He said a total of 45 people have been arrested till Sunday and heavy security deployment has been ensured.
