Medha Patkar quits AAP, dubs Kejriwal-led party a 'tamasha'

Mumbai, Mar 28 (PTI): Stating that the Aam Aadmi Party has reduced itself to a "tamasha", veteran social activist Medha Patkar tody resigned from the party as its internal turbulence reached a flashpoint with the ouster of founding members Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav from a key panel of the fledgling outfit.

"What happened at the AAP meeting in Delhi today is unfortunate," Patkar told reporters in Mumbai after announcing she was leaving the party, which notched up an unprecedented victory in Delhi Assembly polls just last month.

"Political principles are being trampled upon in the party," said the veteran activist, who has been a key figure in the Arvind Kejriwal-led outfit.

"I condemn what happened with Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav," Patkar said, adding AAP has become a 'tamasha'.

Earlier in the day, Bhushan and Yadav were removed from AAP's National Executive for anti-party activities, a decision slammed as "murder of democracy" by them.

Amid chaos and high drama, a resolution to remove the two dissident leaders along with their supporters Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha from the powerful panel was passed at a National Council meeting.

    Rajesh Shetty, Mlore shj,

Abdul Rafiq is my buddy, I like him...some time back I gave him some Sanskrit Slokas to recite...so he could remember difficult names(eg. current MCC Commissioner)by reciting Slokas...

In early eighties I was his(CONgress) Kaup Block Youth Congress president, when Vasanth was Block congress President...we planted many Nilagiri trees in the sides of then NH 17 at Uchila near Soans nursary...I saw them in 2000,,, they had grown into big trees...never visited India since 2000...perhaps they are now cut for expansion of NH 66(former NH 17)...

At that time current Kadina Mantri was Block Youth CONgress President of Bantwal block...Sorake was State NSUI president...

I agree what you said about my buddy Abdul Rafiq...

THere was a film in late 90s called Jallad. Mithus Chakraborthy was the Hero. This Aravind Kejriwal reminds me of the same character. It was a lovely movie and fantastic acting by MC. He starts off as a poor hardworking man, enters politics by fluke, becomes a big politician and changes completely in few years. In the end he looses his family, power, and ends up in Jail.

THIS is the problem when people give whole hearted support the man at top thinks he's invincible. instantly turns him into dictator. it happened to modi who's busy with big corporates totally ignoring common man & now kejri exhibiting it.
CONGRESS is the only party now you can trust & rely on.it gave india sense of stabilty, continuity & security.now with 2 dictators both in delhi india's current & future seriously in jeopardy.

In my earlier views on AAP I had suggested that AAP given enough seats to form a formidable opposition and not elected to power with a majority. This was suggested so that the AAP leaders who behave immaturely get enough time to learn the art of governance. It is proved now that the AAP leaders had a mask of honesty & selflessness. Now their true colours is visible. They are no different from any other politician in the country. Thanks to people like Anna Hazare, Kiran Bedi, Kejriwal & team who used "Corruption" as their theme to mislead the people to hoist on the innocent people of Delhi a Government of AAP which is neither committed towards fighting for the promises to be fulfilled which the Central Govt., has made during the elections.

Does any party got this daring to take action as this AAP who stand against. This is to be appreciated as the party could have settled with benefits but did not bent.
Whoever wants to go let them go, AAP not formed for anybody but by Indians and for Indians. Many obstacles will hurdle through as big game players are waiting to topple down people power...for selfish power. Sometimes need to take drastic steps like this.
good comes bad disperses...otherwise India choice will remain in between two or hundred mixed pickle parties!!

    @Langoo,
16 years back Delhi was ruled by BJP for 5 years and they changed 3 Chief Ministers within 5 years. Thereafter Delhi was ruled by Congress for 15 years, single Chief Minister Shiela dixit and that was stable govt without any problems. But now Delhi people made a new experiment by voting AAP and facing political uncertainty in the state since last one year. Do you think this party or state govt will long last? are they capable to run the government? The party is filled with most corrupt person like Kujliwala, other goondas who doesn't know how to respect their own party founders. Kujliwala will never achieve anything and he is good for nothing. if he have guts let him leave the party and form his own regional party.

Don't worry about people leaving your party, they were anyway useless, thinking only about themselves. I am confident you are people's person, and go any length to win comman man's confidence. Keep up and keep doing your good work. These small hicaps will always be there when you do noble work. Good Luck.

Anyways I appreciate Abdul Rafiq for one thing compared to rest of the Dongis.

He doesn't do Fekugiri by acting like a fence sitter or jump the party when they scored 0 and overnight turned AAP supporter when they knew the inviteable for their dongi party in delhi election and tried to act sickular behind AAPs victory winning rain to hide their tears of historic rout.

During the thick and thin he defends congress openly and he doesn't care to express is political and communal expressions....like me )
