Mangalore, Feb 19: Konkani poet Melvyn Rodrigues and 12 other achievers were honoured at the Parish Day and Catechism Day of Holy Cross Church, Kulshekar held in the church premises on Sunday, February 18.

 

 

Anil Monteiro was the chief guest while parish priest Fr Lawrence, presided over the programme.

 

  

The others whose achievements were recognized and honoured included Ladin Saldanha (All College President 2005-2006), Anuj Maxim Castelino (Regional All College Union President / SDM Law College Student Council President), Jenifer D’Souza (Gold Medalist in B.Sc), Shalini D’Souza (Gold Medal in State Level Athletics), Pearl Saldanha (second rank holder in M.Sc), Anil Pinto (First place in Diocese-level Elocution Competition), Reshma D’Souza (Third Rank Holder in MBA), Nolita D’Silva (First Place in General Knowledge Quiz in District-level Karnataka Prathiba Academy), Sr Eselita (Best Teacher and Dr Radhakrishna Awardee), Roy Castelino ( President of  Konkani Prachar Sanchalan), Richard Alvares (Best Teacher and Guru Prasasti), Teena Patricia D’Souza (First Place ICSC Exam in DK and Udupi District).

 

 


On behalf of Melvyn Rodrigues his sister Sylvia Fernandes received the honour. The ICYM Cordel Unit donated a sum of Rs 40,000 in aid of education to poor students. A cultural programme was organized by the Children attending Catechism classes.

 

 

Fr Edwin, Fr Alex, Fr Victor, Richard Alvares, Anil Monteiro, Fr Lawrence, Victor Vas Norbert D’Souza and Avita Menezes were present on the dias.
