Tunisian police officer killed in bomb explosion

Tunis, March 23 (IANS): A member of the Tunisian police was killed and two others were wounded when a mine was set off by their convoy in Kef province, a mountainous region on the border with Algeria, where hundreds of jihadis are gathered, media reported on Monday.

The Tunisian defence ministry said in a statement that security forces are searching for the perpetrators in the area, which for months has been the stage for clashes between the Tunisian National Guard and members of radical groups Ansar al-Sharia and Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Efe news agency reported.

The attack comes only five days after the deadly terrorist attacks on the Bardo Museum in Tunis, where three terrorists, allegedly linked to the Islamic State, killed 21 people, most of whom were foreign tourists.
