Labourer threatens school principal for money, held


New Delhi, March 23 (IANS): A daily-wage labourer was arrested on Monday for allegedly making an extortion call to a school principal demanding Rs.5 lakh, police said.

Madan Mohan Choudhary, 25, called up Rajni Kohli, principal of Tagore Model Public School, Shalimar Bagh, on Friday and demanded Rs.5 lakh, police said.

He threatened that he would blow up the school if she failed to pay up.

Choudhary, who also goes by the name of Vikas Mishra, picked up the principal's phone number from a school board and made the call from his own phone. He called her once and texted her thrice.

Principal Rajni Kohli, accompanied by school chairman R.S. Jain, filed a police complaint against Choudhary on Saturday.

The accused also threatened sub-inspector Kamal of Shalimar Bagh police station when he tried to contact him on phone saying, "What can Delhi police do".

Police arrested Choudhary on Monday and produced him in the Rohini court which remanded him to two days' custody.

The accused is from Darbhanga district in Bihar.
