Mangalore, Feb 15: Life came to a standstill for 11 families living in Vamanjoor when two earth movers approached their houses for demolition.

Thursday, February 15 was a fateful day to these families whose houses were demolished by Mangalore City Corporation (MCC).

Following the order from MCC commissioner, the demolition began at 7 am.

Severe protest from the families fell to dead ears as the MCC officials explained to them that the land belonged to government and was under the KUDCEM Project.

The supplication and shedding tears before the officials went in vain. They even sat before the JCB protesting against the demolition.

However with the help from police all the 11 houses were demolished.
