Three injured in Copenhagen shopping complex attack

Copenhagen, March 18 (IANS): At least three people were injured in an attack near a major shopping complex in Denmark's capital Copenhagen on Wednesday, media reported.

Police said that three people were arrested in connection with the attack, which apparently was a confrontation between two rival gangs, according to a report in The Local news portal's Denmark edition.

Three people were injured by gunshots and stabbing, reports said.

“One was hit in the back, one in the stomach and one in the arm,” read a police statement.

Security authorities did not release any information on the condition of the victims, nor did they elaborate on the motive behind the attack, which they said took place in the parking lot of the Fields shopping centre, the biggest shopping centre in Denmark.

Eight people were reported to be involved in the attack.

Last month, Copenhagen witnessed a terrorist attack in which a gunman killed two people and injured five, before being shot dead by security men. The shooter reportedly had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.
