Bangalore, Feb 12: While the state observed bandh called by pro-Kannada outfits to protest the verdict of Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal, the city wore a deserted look. Normal life was disrupted as the IT hub was silent on Monday February 12.

The normal hustle and bustle was missing as buses, auto rickshaws and taxis kept off the roads while shops and other commercial establishments downed shutters. Only pharmacies were open.

There was no food available for those who depend on restaurants and caterers for meals. The city was full of policemen with around 20 constables patrolling every junction.

Meanwhile, the city corporation took the opportunity to paint the roads while kids enjoyed playing cricket on the streets.

Families which were hesitant to step out of their doors in the morning were found sitting outside their houses engaged in conversations.

A few two-wheelers were also seen plying on the roads. Malls were covered with nets as a precaution against incidents of stone pelting. Some even resorted to putting up the state flags on their establishments as a safety measure.

Rescheduling, combining and cancellation of flights were also heard of.

Police have clamped prohibitory orders from 6 am on Monday February 12 to 6 am on Tuesday February 13 in the city, banning assembly of five or more persons.

Schools and colleges declared a holiday and cinema halls were also closed.
