IFFD announces 18 designers for India Runway Week

New Delhi, March 17 (IANS): In keeping with its aim to provide a platform to new designers, the Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFD) has announced names of 18 new designers who will get a chance to exhibit their talent at the India Runway Week Season-4.

IFFD has shortlisted the designers for two categories -- New-Gen and Budding Designer -- on the basis of their quality, innovation and marketability for the event to be held from April 10 to 12 here. Ten fashion enthusiasts have come on board for the New Gen category, while eight have found a place in the latter.

“IFFD has nurtured fresh fashion talent over three seasons of India Runway Week and provided them with an opportunity to showcase their creativity. We expect them to grow to their fullest potential while maintaining their individuality,” Avinash Pathania, IFFD founder, said in a statement.

Zeroing in on the designers was not an easy task as there were more than 250 submissions for the spot. India Runway Week fashion director Kiran Kheva said the increase in the number of applicants is a positive sign.

“The increased number of entries along with the continued growth of the India Runway Week reaffirms the platform’s stature in terms of relevance and reach in the Indian fashion market,” Kheva said.
