Published by: Emirates Evening Post, Dubai

Dubai Feb 7: He was killed in a road accident in November 2006, but with no one to claim, the body of Philip Jacob Tauro continues to lie at a hospital mortuary in Al Rafa. The body cannot be repatriated until somebody comes forward to claim it.

Lacking information about his family in Mangalore, the Dubai police have approached the Indian Consulate to see if it could identify a friend or relative of the victim.

According to the police, Tauro’s body was found on November 11, 2006 at the roadside in Al Rafa area. He was a victim of a road accident.

"The body cannot be kept for ever. If nobody can help us locate his family back home, we will have to bury the body here itself," says a consulate official.

Tauro's original sponsor, a hotel owner in Dubai claims he was absconding since the year 2000 and was working elsewhere. His original visa was valid only up to March 2003.

According to the police they have found the passport copy of the victim but the address page on the passport is missing.

Besides his passport copy, no other detail is available with the police. Tauro hails from Mangalore and his passport issued from Bangalore (July 7, 1998 and is valid upto July 7, 2018)
