Mumbai, Feb 7: Raghuram T Shetty (53), proprietor of the well-known travel agency Syndicate Travels of the city, passed away in the Patil Nursing Home in Borivli on Tuesday.

Hailing from Bellibettuguttu in Gurupur near Mangalore, he was indisposed for the last one week. He is survived by a son and a daughter.

He was a popular community leader and a generous donor and owned Syndicate Travels, Syndicate Travels India, Syndicate Corporation and other firms under his 'Syndicate' banner.

Having run his travel agency for over three decades, he made a big name in providing interstate bus transport facility and was fondly called 'Syndicate Shetty'.

From recent times, he held the agency for the Airavat (Volvo) super-luxury buses of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). In spite of being a successful entrepreneur, he kept a low profile while being a philanthropist and a social worker.

His final rites were held in the Dahisar West crematorium in Mumbai, where a large number of his friends and well-wishers besides travel firm owners and staff were present.
