Charandeep likes playing powerful villainous roles

Chennai, March 11 (IANS): Actor Charandeep, who rose to fame with his antagonist roles in Tamil films such as "Jilla" and "Sigaram Thodu", says he likes to be seen as a powerful villain.

"I have no reservations about playing any role. In fact, I enjoy playing a powerful villain. I think it suits my image," Charandeep told IANS.

Thanks to his dark, tall and six-pack sporting body, he feels he's cut out to play the baddie.

"I spent about three years on learning mixed martial arts and developing six-pack abs. I think all that is finally paying off," said Charandeep, who has four Telugu films and one film each in Kannada and Tamil in his kitty.

Of all the releases, he's most excited about his Kannada debut "Boxer", which is directed by Preetham Gubbi.

"'Boxer' is an out-and-out action film that revolves around kickboxing. The hero and I are pitted against each other in the ring," he said, and admits that his experience in mixed martial arts came in handy while shooting for the film.

Charandeep's big release in Telugu is S.S. Rajamouli's magnum opus "Baahubali".

"I play the villain's brother in the movie. I have limited screen presence in the first part, but I return in an extended role in the second," said Charandeep.

In Telugu, he also has "Vinavayya Ramayya", "Vyuhama and "Tungabhadra" up his sleeve, while in Tamil he's all set to team up with "Sigaram Thodu" director Gaurav again.
