Kuwait: Tulu Koota Felicitates B Ahmed Hajee Thumbay

Kuwait, Feb 5:  B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen - Chairman of B.A. Group, Mangalore is in Kuwait on a 4-day visit to introduce his charitable project B.A. Multi Charitable Hospital, a 50 bedded multi Specialty Hospital in Thumbay Mangalore.

Tulu Koota Kuwait,  a cultural association of Tulu speaking people living in the State of Kuwait felicitated the visiting Educationalist, Industrialist B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen in Salmiya School yesterday.  President of Tulukoota Kuwait Satischandra Shetty complimented B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen for his dedicated selfless and untiring efforts towards the upliftment of the underprivileged and said that now Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen stands at the pinnacle of his excellence.

Noteworthy recognition of Ahmed Hajee's efforts puts him in the forefront of educationalists.  He is the founder and President of number of Institutions and Trusts in Mangalore and surrounding areas.  Apart from Thumbay Group of Institutions, he is responsible for the opening of a number of High Schools, Junior Colleges, Professional Colleges, Peace Committees, Social Service Centers, Womens Welfare Centers and other Industrial Institutions in Dakshina Kannada District.  He is heading the management of number of Educational Institutions in the District.  He is the President of 80 years old Badriya Educational Institutions at Mangalore.  He is also the President of one of the oldest and Reputed Nav Bharat Night High School which was established prior to Independence of our country.

Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen is one of the Trustees of Yenepoya Medical College and Yanepoya Dental College in Mangalore and The Gulf Medical College & Gulf Hospital in Ajman, U.A.E, which is the First Medical College in U.A.E. offering world class education to both boys and girls hailing from different nations around the world.  Hajee was the member of Adult Education Society, Government of Karnataka and he was also a Syndicate member of Mangalore University.

B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen in his keynote address said that said that the total population of Bantwal Taluk in Dakshina Kannada District is approximately 4 lakhs.  Thumbay village is situated about 5 kms from Bantwal Town and 18 Kms from Mangalore city on the Mangalore-Bangalore National Highway.  There are about 100 villages within the radius of 50 kms from Thumbay with a combined population of more than 8 lakhs and is dependant on Mangalore city for Quality Health Care.  The people of Puttur, Sullia, Ujire, Vittal, Uppinangady and Bantwal Taluk can save time, energy & sometimes even life if Quality Medical Services are made available to them at Thumbay at affordable prices.

Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen is a resident of Thumbay village for the last 40 years.  It is his Vision and Wish that Thumbay should have a full-pledged hospital offering good medical treatment to the residents of Thumbay & neighboring villages.  His experience in this field of Education, Industry & Social Service are the basic pillars of this proposed B.A. Charitable Hospital Project.  The Hon’ble President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, in his address to the nation on the Republic Day on 26th January 2005, has stressed the necessity to provide Basic Medical Care to the Rural Poor.  All these aspects inspired him to start a Hospital and Training Institute under Mohiudeen Educational Trust.

Year 2007 being the Golden Jubilee of his achievements, B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen said that he is planning to complete the work of B.A. Charitable Hospital by the end of this year and the initial cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 400 lakhs.  It is proposed to initially to set up a 60 bedded Hospital with the following departments.

Gynecology & Pediatrics Departments
Medicine & Surgery Units
Fully equipped Dental Chair
Casualty & Trauma Centre with Minor OT
2 Major Operation Theatres & 2 Labour Theatres
Well equipped Post Operative & Intensive & Intensive Care Units (Including Neuro & Pediatric  Intensive Care Facility)

In the first phase itself it is proposed to start various Nursing & Para Medical Courses with a dual object of providing job opportunity to the local youths, especially to girls and also to meet ever increasing demand for these technical posts in Health Care Industry.  The courses which are proposed in this stage are General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM), Medical Lab & X-Ray Technician courses etc.

Over a period of time as the hospital progress, new Para Medical Courses will be offered in a phased manner with the ultimate goal to start a Women’s Medical College.  To achieve these objectives, financial aid is being accepted from philanthropic individuals and bodies and all those who support this commitment with a spirit of concern for a brighter tomorrow.

On behalf of Tulukoota  Kuwait, Satishchandra Shetty – President of and Helen Pinto – Vice President jointly presented a memento to B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen as a gesture of honor to him for his contributions towards education and Industries in India.  Welfare officer B.M. Iqbal briefed the gathering the introduction and various activities of B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen.  Ravindra Emmekere, Gen. Secretary of Tulukoota Kuwait has compered the felicitation function.

The felicitation function was concluded with vote of thanks. Delicious lunch was served by  Oriental Group of Restaurants.
