Mumbai, Feb 4: Sticking to his controversial statement on President Abdul Kalam, Bal Thackeray was critical of the President who was yet to take a decision on Mohammed Afzal, who has been sentenced to death.

"We also voted him as President but after becoming the President was his behaviour in keeping with his position? The answer is no," Thackeray said in a packed press conference at the party head quarters in Mumbai.

"Even after Afzal Guru was sentenced to death in October last year, the file is still lying on Kalam's table," said Thackeray who came to address the press following an impressive victory in the Muncipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai elections, which was held on February 1.

The octogenarian leader showed no remorse for his derogatory comment against Kalam at a rally in Thane last week, saying ‘what did I say wrong about Kalam? I am after all a cartoonist and there is nothing wrong in commenting on somebody's long hair’.

Sena supremo credited the party's win to the hard work put in by ‘staunch Sena loyalists’.
