Parliament witnesses adjournments over Naidu's remark

New Delhi, Feb 26 (IANS): Both houses of parliament witnessed brief adjournments Thursday as the opposition demanded an apology from Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu for his remarks targeting them.

Shortly after the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha met for the day's business, the opposition leaders demanded an unconditional apology from Naidu.

On Wednesday, during the motion of thanks to the president's address, Naidu had said that if the Congress can't introspect (about their defeat in elections) here, it should "go somewhere far" to do so.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan repeatedly asked the members to maintain calm, but her appeals went unheard and the house was adjourned till 11.30 a.m.

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha which too was adjourned till 11.35 a.m.

The lower house was adjourned again for fifteen minutes before the railway budget was presented by Minister Suresh Prabhu.
