NEW DELHI, Feb 11 (PTI): Aam Aadmi Party candidate Alka Lamba is among the six women who made it to the Delhi Assembly today. Ms Lamba won the Chandni Chowk seat, defeating her nearest rival BJP's Suman Kumar Gupta by more than 18,200 votes.

A former president of the Delhi University Students' Union and a member of the Congress, she had crossed over to AAP in 2013.

The other women who won today included Rakhi Birla, Bandna Kumari, Saritha Singh, Pramila Tokas and Bhavna Gaur.

Ms Birla, who was the Cabinet minister for Women and Child, Social Welfare and Languages in Delhi during AAP's 49-day regime, contested from West Delhi's Mangolpuri constituency and defeated Congress' Raj Kumar Chauhan by 22,699 votes.

Another two-time winner from the party was Bandana Kumari, who beat BJP's Rekha Gupta from the Shalimar Bagh constituency this time.

AAP's student wing president Sarita Singh won from the Rohtash Nagar Assembly constituency with a margin of over 7,800 votes. And Bhawna Gaur, who contested from Palam constituency in South-West Delhi, defeated BJP's Dhram Dev Solanki by nearly 31,000 votes.

The BJP had given tickets to seven women candidates, including its Chief Ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, former Congress leader Krishna Tirath and young face Nupur Sharma.

The Congress had fielded just five women -including senior leader Kiran Walia and President Pranab Mukherjee's daughter Sharmishta Mukherjee.
