Mangalore, Jan 7: At the first of its kind "Kavita Fest'", under the initiative of  Melvyn Rodrigues, Konkani's leading poet from Dubai, in association with Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Mandd Sobhann, ‘Sheviyo-Roce’ (poetry –Music Jugalbandi) stole the limelight.

On Sunday at 6 pm in the amphitheatre at Kalaangann the blend of poetry –Music in a Jugalbandi actualized in the form of the 61st Mhainyalli Manchi (monthly theatre) of Mandd Sobhann.

The novel experiment bore fruit on Sunday. The Jugalbandi stole hearts with its good blend of poetry and music on one stage.

Elyer Taccode, Victor Lobo Bajal, Prof Rajiv Pavar, Melwin Rodrigues, Melita Pinto, Jossy Pinto, Kishoo Barkur and many other young and old poets proudly presented their poems.

Dr Austin D’Souza Prabhu, Chicago was the chief guest, while poet Poornanand Chari moderated the programme. Ronald Mendonca, Chairman of the Management Board of Kalangann was the guest of honour.

Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Eric Ozario, Melwin Ludric of Kavitha.com were also present on the occasion.
