Heidi Montag's father arrested on child sex abuse charges

Los Angeles, Jan 31 (IANS): Bill Montag, father of “The Hills” star Heidi Montag, has been arrested in Colorado on child sex abuse charges.

According to a press release from the Aspen Police Department, Montag, 67, was charged with three counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, and one charge of aggravated incest, reports people.com.

Both charges are considered class three felonies, which can result in a state prison sentence of four to 12 years and a fine of $3,000 to $750,000.

Bill was arrested Thursday from Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club (AVSC), where he worked.

According to Mark Cole, the executive director at AVSC, the alleged incident does not involve anyone under Bill's care at AVSC or in the Aspen area.

Cole noted in a press release that Bill had been suspended pending his charges.

While Bill was not featured heavily on his daughter's MTV series, he did make an appearance during Heidi's wedding with Spencer Pratt in 2009.
