Eight bodies recovered from sunken Bangladeshi trawler


Dhaka, Jan 30 (IANS): At least eight bodies of passengers aboard a sunken Bangladeshi trawler were recovered Friday.

The trawler, "FB Idris" carrying over a 100 people, had set off from Chittagong’s Majhirhat Wednesday and capsized Thursday morning at Khudiyar Tek Point in the Kutubdia channel of the Bay of Bengal while allegedly carrying passengers illegally to Malaysia, bdnews24 reported.

So far, police and coast guard have rescued 43 people.

According to officials, the bodies have not yet been identified.

The rescue work was conducted by two coast guard and four naval rescue vessels.
