Kundapur, Dec 31: Deepika Shetty won the gold in the below 17 years girls' pole vault at the National Athletic Meet held at Priyadarshini Stadium, Mumbai.
Daijiworld readers may be aware of this young talent whose determination to participate in the nationals held earlier compelled her to participate in the event with a bamboo stick for a pale vault.
Lack of funds compelled this girl of standard IX to use a bamboo stick. The report touched many hearts and the girl was helped my several to pursue her interest in sports.
Recently Deepika after breaking a record at the State-level Alva's Yekalavya sports meet by scaling a height of 2.5 meters in the high jump won the gold in the national level athletic meet.
