Sony to release 'The Interview' in Mexican theatres

Los Angeles, Jan 7 (IANS): Seth Rogen and James Franco starer controversial comedy “The Interview” will be released in nearly 200 Mexican theatres Feb 6.

The film's release has been high on drama after theatre owners refused to screen the film due to terror threats from the hacking group Guardians of Peace.

But the film later got a limited release and has grossed over $5 million since hitting the screens Dec 25, 2014.

In digital sales and rentals, “The Interview” has raked in more than $31 million, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

According to The Independent newspaer, the film will get an added boost on Feb 6 when it also hits Britain cinemas.

“The Interview”, whose plot includes the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, prompted a cyberattack on Sony, followed later by the threats.
