Mangalore, Dec 14: Former Congress MLA Manjappa Ullal (80) passed away at his residence in Kodikal here on Wednesday.
He was a close associate of erstwhile political veterans like Ullal Srinivas Mallya, Dr U P Mallya, Ishwar, Narayan Kille and others.
He was greatly influenced by the ideology followed by Kudmul Ranga Rao and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
He had also served as member of Mangalore University's senate and syndicate. He played a key role in bringing together and empowering the members of the Mandala community.
He was a great devotee of Babbuswamy deity.
