Dustin Diamond arrested for allegedly stabbing a man

Los Angeles, Dec 27 (IANS): Actor Dustin Diamond, who is famous for his role as Screech in the nineties series "Saved by The Bell", was arrested in Wisconsin for allegedly stabbing a man with a switchblade.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff says the 37-year-old was arrested early Friday morning for possession of a switchblade, reckless endangerment and carrying a concealed weapon, reports tmz.com.

Police officials also say that the actor allegedly stabbed a guy after getting into an argument late Christmas evening that quickly escalated -- the bar owner says it was over pictures they were taking of Diamond -- and then the actor left the bar.

According to court documents, the victim suffered a half inch wound under his armpit and bled heavily.

Officers located the actor and his girlfriend, who was charged with disorderly conduct, in his car. The knife was found in his car.

The victim suffered non-life threatening wounds and he's home recovering, said officials.

Diamond is claiming self defence, saying he and his girlfriend were attacked in the bar. He appeared in court Friday morning and his bail was set at $10,000.
