Mangalore, Dec 8: Vishwas trust a Non-Government Organization (NGO) in collaboration with the district department of welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizen has been running a round-the-clock free help line for the benefits of senior citizens for the last one year.  The office of the Senior Citizens' Helpline (1090) is based in the premises of Pandeshwar police station.  

Speaking at a press conference here on Friday December 8 morning, Mohan Kumar, project coordinator of Senior Citizens' Helpline  said that the primary aim of the helpline is to provide adequate emotional and psychological help and care to senior citizens who face various problems.

The service of the trust includes counselling and suggesting solutions for their problems, creating awareness among the public about the rights of the elders and responsibilities of the people towards them. It also includes reconciliation and reunion in the family matters of the elder people, he said.

Olinda Perera, founder of the Vishwas Trust,  B P D’Souza in-charge DySP (town) and Puttaswami ,welfare officer of department of welfare of the disabled were also present at the press conference.
