Auckland City win Club World Cup bronze


Marrakesh (Morocco), Dec 21 (IANS): Auckland City defeated Cruz Azul 4-2 on penalties to win the match for third place at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Sanni Issa scored the shoot-out winner for the New Zealanders to become the first Oceania side to win a medal at the Club World Cup Saturday, reports Xinhua.

The match finished 1-1 after full-time and extra-time.

Ryan de Vries put Auckland ahead just before half-time, but the CONCACAF champions from Mexico levelled through Joao Rojas in the 57th minute.
